New residence and work permit application procedure at the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi
The Danish Embassy in New Delhi is pleased to introduce a new facility in order to meet the increasing demand for residence and work permit in Denmark among Indians.
Application procedure
From 16th August 2010, the VFS Danish Visa Application Centre in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata, will accept the following applications from all nationals and their dependants:
VFS will submit all such applications to the Danish Embassy in New Delhi.
Timings for submission of application at VFS are 0900 Hrs - 1430 Hrs from Monday to Friday except
holidays.
The Jurisdiction of operation of the Embassy is all States and Union Territories of the Indian Union, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan. However, the VFS Danish Visa Application Centers in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata shall receive visa applications only from India.
Submission of application for residence and work permit and collection of passports can be done only in person by the applicants.
All long Term applications except Green card applications accepted at the Danish Visa Application Centre at Delhi will be submitted on the next working day to the Embassy. Applications accepted at the Danish visa application centers located in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata will be submitted after two working days to the Royal Denmark Embassy New Delhi. Processed passports can be collected from the Danish Visa Application Centre between 1300-1600 Hrs. Applicants can instantly track the status of their application by clicking on
Track your Application or by sending and SMS to VISA DK passport number to 57333. There will be no need to follow up with the Embassy or the Call Centre to ascertain when the passport will be returned.
Denmark Introduces Biometric Residence Cards from 20 May 2012
From 20 May 2012 residence cards must contain digital photos, fingerprints and signatures. In this way the security against forgery and misuse of residence cards is strengthened.
When you come to the visa application centre to deliver a residence/ work permit application, you will need to have your biometric data recorded. You should remove any henna on your fingertips, or allow it to fade, as this may prevent us from getting a clear scan.
Every applicant who is submitting a residence permit application must attend the visa application centre in person. Children of less than6 years need to attend, but are not require to have fingerprints or signature recorded, only a photograph.

ARRIVAL IN DENMARK AFTER PERMISSION
Please bear in mind that you have to arrive in Denmark maximum 6 months from the date of issue mentioned on the permit sticker. If you are not able to arrive in Denmark before the end of this period, you can apply for an extension of the 6 month period. There is no restriction on when you sticker can be placed in you passport, but due to that you must arrive in Denmark within 6 months after the approval is made at DIS it is advisable to have it done as fast as possible. It will normally take 2 weeks to have a sticker put into you passport.
CHANGE OF POLICY - 3 YEARS FOR ALL PERMISSIONS
As 25 of October all Green card permission will be granted a first-time residence permit for 3 year.
If you received permission under the Green card scheme with a first-time residence permit for 18 months, then you can have this changed to 3 year permission. To have the permission changed you must go to the Danish Immigration Service (DIS) in Copenhagen upon arrival in Denmark. DIS will then change your visa sticker free of charge.

ADDITIONAL FEE ON GREENCARD APPLICATIONS IMPLEMENTED JANUARY 1, 2011
The Danish Government has in the Finance Bill for 2011 proposed that an additional fee of approximately 50,000- INR be added for submission of Green Card applications. If adopted, the fee will be implemented as of January 1, 2011. Applications submitted before this date will not have to pay the extra fee
Applicable Charges

All Green Card applicants and their dependants are required to pay the following verification charges at the time of submitting their application:
Verification Charges for Green Card applicant – Rs. 7304.00 per applicant (Inclusive of tax 12.36%)
Verification Charges for dependants of Green Card holder/applicant – Rs. 2107.00 per dependant (Inclusive of tax 12.36%)
(Verification charges have to be paid in cash at the time of submitting the application)
There will be a service charge of Rs. 1121/- (inclusive of Service Tax 12.36%) levied per application over and above the Visa Fees and verification charges. In case you would like your passport couriered to your specified address, you can request for this facility at the time of submitting your application. This optional service is available for an additional fee of Rs 204/- (inclusive of Service Tax 12.36%). The service charge and the courier fee is payable in cash at the time of submitting your application.
